Bepensa turns to SMI for the supply of three PET bottling lines

Crystal-clear seas, white sandy beaches, archaeological sites and natural beauty all to be admired: welcome to Cancún, a fascinating Mexican city that is home to cutting-edge companies such as Embotelladora Bepensa Cancún, a division of Bepensa Bebidas, an important bottler of The Coca-Cola company brands.

In a world of interconnected relationships, where every element of the network carries a strong mutual responsibility, trust becomes a fundamental factor for effective teamwork and business growth.

To meet the growing market demand for the water bottled under Cristal brand, Bepensa Bebidas recently turned to SMI and ENOBERG for the supply of a complete bottling and packaging line for PET bottles in 0.335 L, 0.5 L, 0.6 L , 1 L and 1.2 L formats.

After the first project at Cancún plant, the Mexican company collaborated again with SMI for the installation of two additional lines at its facilities in Mérida and the Dominican Republic.

Flexibility and fast reaction: SMI’s solutions for Bepensa.

The cooperation between Bepensa Bebidas, SMI, ENOBERG and the Mexican branch Smicentroamericana results from a long-standing partnership that enables Bepensa to have high-tech machinery and equipment and to rely on a prompt and efficient technical, sales and after-sales support.

The key requests made by the customer to the companies of the SMI Group focus on a few, simple aspects:

  1. an efficient line solution to handle 5 different PET bottle formats within the same production line
  2. an extremely flexible multi-format plant to quickly switch from one production batch to another; an ambitious challenge, considering that Bepensa’s traditional production system has always been based on single-format lines
  3. consumer satisfaction, by offering high-quality products packed in practical bundle formats
  4. fast format changeover
  5. timely delivery and installation of the plant

The solution installed at Bepensa Cancún for bottling water under Cristal brand includes an integrated ECOBLOC® ERGON system composed of a compact EBS 10 KL ERGON stretch-blow moulder by SMI and an HEVF/ECO 60/94-12/94 electronic volumetric filling system by ENOBERG. For the secondary and tertiary packaging, the Mexican company opted for a solution that includes a CSK 40 F ERGON shrink wrapper and an APS 1570 palletizing system.
